‘You must be able to demonstrate that you currently have, or will have by the start of the fellowship, a need for flexible support due to personal circumstances for the duration of the fellowship. This can include parental responsibilities, caring responsibilities, clinically diagnosed health issues or other personal circumstances that create a need for a flexible working pattern.’

It is the opportunity to balance a personalised retraining programme with a challenging research project, held in a supportive UK university or research establishment.’

‘With our Grants for Carers, you can apply for up to £1,000 per year to help you attend a chemistry-related meeting, conference or workshop or a professional development event. This money would be used to cover any additional costs you incur, paying for care that you usually provide.’
