DR SARAH PIKE
WISC Vice Chair (Communications)
UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, University of Birmingham, UK

Sarah studied for a MChem (International) at Durham University and obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Dr. Paul Lusby. She then held a PDRA position at the University of Manchester in the groups of Professor Jonathan Clayden, and Dr. Simon Webb focusing on foldamer chemistry. Subsequently, she was a PDRA in the group of Professor Robin Perutz (FRS) working on the energetics of halogen bonds in solution. Sarah then moved to the University of Cambridge and worked in the group of Professor Chris Hunter (FRS) on the quantification of hydrogen bonding in solution.
She began her independent career in 2018, when she was appointed as a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Bradford. In 2020, she was awarded a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and joined the School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. Her current research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel supramolecular systems for sensing applications.
Outside of work, Sarah likes to run and swim.
