PhD Candidate - KAUST
Aliyah is originally from Mauritius Island. She went to the UK in 2015 to study an integrated Masters (MSci) in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Glasgow where she graduated with First Class Honours. She was also awarded the College of Science and Engineering Dean’s Award.
In her 4th year of university, she went on a work placement at GlaxoSmithKline, a pharmaceutical company, in London. For her final year masters project, she studied single substrate uncompetitive inhibition in the bacterial drug target type II dehydroquinase under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Lapthorn.
In 2019, she joined KAUST for a PhD in Professor Niveen Khashab’s group, Smart Hybrid Materials Lab where she is working on molecular cages and macrocycles for bio-imaging and sensing.
